Well, if you think so, BrightSpark Publishing of Elgin has just the thing for you!
S.W.O.T. - Scotland’s Writers Of Tomorrow, is a new, ambitious and groundbreaking countrywide initiative designed to instill within all you school age children the desire to write - by actually giving YOU the unique chance of having your own literary masterpieces published and sold worldwide!
S.W.O.T. is open to all schoolchildren in Scotland, of all nationalities, religion or race from Primary One up to Secondary Four: ONE winner will come from EACH year - eleven winners in total. S.W.O.T. covers all genres in both fiction and non-fiction: crime, horror, romance, sci-fi, biography, history. These may be novels, collections of poetry or short stories, plays - even graphic novels and picture books. The subject matter is as limitless as your imagination. Word length is unimportant. Collaborations between two or more of you from the SAME school year are allowed. MSS should be entirely your OWN work - NO help from parents, teachers (other than general guidance on spelling and so on - and a bit more for the REALLY young ones) is allowed.
Closing date is 30th September 2008.
There is a nominal entry fee of only £1 per entry (16p plus First Class post will add up to the £1 - it's the only way the software would allow us to do it!).
All successful entrants will have a contract, be paid royalties on sales, will have book signing sessions - in short, they will be bone fide writers! And who knows, perhaps a career in writing may ensue.
Entries should be sent on disc via post to our snail mail address, or emailed to swot@brightsparkpublishing.co.uk.
NOTE 1: the age group entered (i.e.. P1, P2, S3 etc) should be inserted as the SUBJECT.
NOTE 2: your school year should be the one you are in NOW.
